METRO TWEAKS TIME TABLE FOR FIFA MATCHES

- AGE CORRESPONDENT

In order to facilitate the spectators visiting Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium for watching Junior Fifa World Cup matches scheduled in Delhi on October 6, 9, 12 and 16, the Delhi Metro has made several arrangements.

Special time table has been implemented on these days on Line-6 with a frequency of 3 minutes and 20 seconds till 11 pm as the match venue is very near to JLN Stadium and Jangpura Metro station. In normal days, this frequency is available till 8:30 pm only.

Ten manual ticket counters (in addition to regular ticket counters) have been opened at ground level of JLN Stadium Metro station, whereas, six additional manual counters will be opened at Jangpura station on match days so that passengers can get tokens at a fast pace with pre-vended tokens available at these special counters at the ground level itself. Additional deployment of ticketing and security staff has been done at JLN Stadium and Jangpura Metro stations during these days to help passengers/spectators. Officers have been deployed on special duty at Operation Control Centre and at these stations to closely supervise and facilitate smooth services. Average ridership of both JLN stadium and Jangpura stations in September 2017 was around 10,000 and 7,000 respectively, which increased by over 100 per cent on first two days when matches were held in the stadium on October 6 and 9.

JLN Stadium and Jangpura Station recorded an average ridership of around 22,000 and 11,500 respectively on these two days.
