11 country-made pistols recovered from ‘meter’ gang

New Delhi: The infamous “Meter Maar” gang has been busted by the Delhi police. With their arrest, the police recovered 11 country-made pistols along with 20 live cartridges, 4 stolen mobile phones, 1 car and 1 scooter. As many as 50 burglary have been solved. The arrested are Mohammad Naseem, 25, Bhutto Ansari, 27, Radhey Shyam Yadav, 26, Anil Kumar Yadav, 24, Jummaddin, 27, (receiver of stolen property) and Rakesh, 31. All the gang members belonged to notorious interstate “Meter Maar” gang of Tajjuddin, who committed various burglaries in mobile phone showrooms in Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttrakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Telengana and Jharkhand. The police said that the gang in the recent past had committed burglaries at mobile phone showrooms in bordering area of South Delhi. The modus operandi of culprits in all the incidents was similar. A special team from South District was constitute­d to bust the gang. The team got one blind clue that some members of this gang operate from Gurgaon, Haryana. The police team developed criminal intelligen­ce and on October 9, acting on secret informatio­n, the team members laid a trap near Mapple Emarald Resort at Rajokari Village Road. During interrogat­ion, accused Mohammad Naseem and his associates disclosed that since they were illiterate had no source of livelihood, hence, they started pillaging for survival.
