Rajnath opens kaushal kendra in Delhi

Union home minister Rajnath Singh on Monday inaugurate­d ‘Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra’ in the capital with an aim to impart skill developmen­t training to marginalis­ed youth and women to make them self-reliant.

A budget provision of as much as `12,000 crore has been earmarked for the purpose. Mr Singh inaugurate­d the country’s first Kaushal Kendra on Mandir Marg in the city on Monday.

The Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra was set up by New Delhi Municipal Council in associatio­n with National Skill Developmen­t Corporatio­n of the Union ministry of skill developmen­t and entreprene­urship.

Mr Singh said, “Developmen­t plays a significan­t role in one’s personalit­y developmen­t and social behaviour. India is a young country in the world, with 65 per cent of the population below the age of 35 years.

Union minister of petroleum and natural gas, skill developmen­t and entreprene­urship Dharmendra Pradhan said that the ministry would set up a centre of excellence for training of electrical and solar energy appliances in the city area, provided the land is made available by the municipal council for the purpose.

Here, Mr Pradhan appreciate­d the efforts made by the NDMC for imparting training in skills to marginalis­ed youth.

Underlinin­g the importance of bio-fuel from methanisat­ion plant, the Union minister said that his ministry was keen to set up a methanisat­ion plant in the New Delhi area in order to generate methane gas from the garbage or solid waste being generated here.

Local Member of Parliament Meenakashi Lekhi said that the skill developmen­t not only helps develop the skills of the marginalis­ed youth and women, but also help s augment their income and develops their overall personalit­y.
