Suit filed against TWC claiming sexual misconduct by Weinstein

-

Los Angeles: A female actor has filed a lawsuit against The Weinstein Company for allegedly aiding and abetting their former boss Harvey Weinstein’s sexual misconduct.

Dominique Huett said like many other women, she too was lured into a meeting with the Hollywood producer in a hotel room and was sexual assaulted.

Weinstein gave Huett the contact information of an executive producer of TWC’s Project Runaway and offered to secure a role for her.

Huett claims in her lawsuit that TWC executives, officers and employees “had actual knowledge of Weinstein’s repeated acts of sexual misconduct with women”.

“In particular, Defendant (TWC) was aware of Weinstein’s pattern of using his power to coerce and force young actresses to engage in sexual acts with him. This knowledge was possessed by Defendant’s Board of Directors including, upon information and belief, Bob Weinstein,” according to the suit.

She further claims that TWC was “aware of allegations of sexual misconduct against Weinstein going back to the 1990s”.

She also claims TWC “often aided and abetted Weinstein in the commission of his sexual misconduct.”

This is first lawsuit to be filed against the TWC since the sexual harassment scandal that broke on October 5.

Huett’s attorney Jeff Herman told People the suit is not barred by the statute of limitations because he is suing a company, not an individual.

More than 50 women, including celebrities such as Lupita Nyong’o, Lena Headey, Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie have come forward to accuse the producer.
