‘Will make Delhi corruption-free’

The Delhi Government on Monday launched the vigilance awareness week with deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia administer­ing the pledge to the officers and employees of Delhi government to make Delhi corruption free. Along with chief secretary M.M. Kutty, several senior officials took the pledge to make the city “corruption free.”

Administer­ing the pledge, to the officers/employees to make Delhi the first corruption free territory of India, Mr Sisodia said that Delhi government is committed to make Delhi corruption free. In the cases of corruption, this government has taken strict action against minister and government employees and no employee/minister will be spared in future against whom the allegation­s of corruption are substantia­ted.

“I believe that corruption has been one of the major obstacles to economic, political and social progress of our country. I believe that all stakeholde­rs such as government, citizens and private sector need to work together to eradicate corruption,” the pledge released by the Central Vigilance Commission addressed to all ministries, department­s, state government­s and UTs reads.

The CVC’s pledge is for the officers to commit to fight corruption including following probity and rule of law in all walks of life, to neither take nor offer bribe and to perform all the tasks in an honest and transparen­t manner. The officers taking the pledge are also required to act in public interest, to lead by example exhibiting integrity in personal behavior; and to report any incident of corruption to the appropriat­e agency.
