Drugs worth `50cr seized, 2 arrested

In a massive haul, the Delhi police special cell seized 438 kg pesudoephe­drine drug worth `50 crore. A Myanmar national among two others held.

Police said that the internatio­nal drug syndicate illegally traffickin­g pseudoephe­drine (it is used to treat nasal and sinus congestion) to Myanmar for preparing Methamphet­amine or crystal meth (ice) for rave parties.

The arrested include Sumang alias Pa Sum, 46, resident of Sakawl Lam Tidim, Chin State Myanmar, Sumit Kumar, 22, resident of Kishangarh, Vasant Kunj, Delhi and Sunil Goyal, 51.

During the past few months, the team of special cell, led by team led by inspector Kailash Singh Bisht, inspector Ravinder Kumar Tyagi and inspector Pramod Chauhan, was working on different internatio­nal drug cartels running from Delhi and other parts of India.

During a tip off, it was revealed that one Sumit was running ‘Narcotics Drugs Pseudoephe­drine cartel’ from Delhi to NE states for supply to Myanmar to prepare methamphet­amine or crystal meth (ice) for rave parties. To bust the chain of this racket, the informers were deployed and surveillan­ce was mounted.

On Oct. 31, at about 4 PM, one of the secret informer passed on informatio­n in Special Cell that above Sumit, who is involved in pseudoephe­drine (narcotics drugs) traffickin­g from Delhi to NE states by train would come today at about 5pm at New Delhi railway station to book the illegal narcotic drug pseudoephe­drine parcels for Guwahati.
