Gangster in Tihar calls shots, makes extortion calls
An extortion call made by notorious gangster Manjit Mahal has sent a Delhibased businessman into fear and shock. The gangster from Haryana was recently arrested by the Delhi police and is currently in Tihar Jail. The call made allegedly by one ‘Manjit Mahal’ has forced the police to look into the matter.
According to the complaint, the businessman identified as Kuldeep Sharma, a resident of Shivam Enclave, said that he received an extortion call on Oct. 24. While Mr Sharma, who runs a finance and construction business, was busy at work when he allegedly received a call where the caller introduced himself as Manjit Mahal.
In his complaint, Mr Sharma said that the caller after introducing himself demanded to hand over `25 lakh to him, failing which the he would have to face dire consequences.
According to Mr Sharma, the caller also warned him not to inform police else he would kill him.
However, Mr Sharma took the threat lightly. But, another call on Oct. 31 sent him into a tizzy when the caller from the same number asked about the money.

The caller allegedly gave the businessman six days time to arrange `25 lakh. The caller also threatened Sharma that if he did not pay the demanded money, he would be eliminated
given six days time to Mr Sharma to arrange `25 lakh. The caller went to threaten Mr Sharma that if he did not pay the demanded money, he would be eliminated.
Scared for his life, Mr Sharma immediately looked up Manjit Mahal on Google. Upon checking further, he also found that the gangster was cooling his heels in Tihar along with his gang members.
Mr Sharma informed the Vivek Vihar police and provided them the number from which the calls were made.
Mr Sharma also told the police that he suspected his business acquaintances, Yogender Mugrai and Rajiv Bhatt.
However, when things soured between them, they stopped talking to each other.
Based on his complaint, the Vivek Vihar police filed a complaint under Sections 387 and 507 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and took up the case. Police are trying to ascertain the identity of the caller.
