Sony’s PlayStation app comes to Android, iOS

- AGE CORRESPONDENT

Sony’s Playstation range of consoles has been the bestselling gaming devices for past two decades. It is ironic that despite being the market leader in gaming, and having a flagship Xperia XZ Premium smartphone with a 4K display, there is no support from Sony to take advantage of its full potential for VR gaming. However, Sony has launched its completely redesigned PlayStation App for Android and iOS. Don't get your hopes high though, you cannot play mobile specific games on it, rather it is more of a companion app for your phone if you own the PS4 console.

The new PlayStation app has a more intuitive design meant to make it easier to stay connected to your PS4, friends, and your favourite games while on the go. The first new feature is the addition of a couple of new tabs at the bottom of the screen to make it easier and faster to switch between viewing who's online, checking notifications, and follow the latest activities and posts from friends and the PlayStation community. Secondly, the developers have added a new central PS button (easy to recognise), which enables users to access the various features of the app faster and easier.

Sony also announced the release of a brand new PS4 Second Screen mobile app (Android and iOS), which should allow users to navigate their PS4's menu, use the on-screen keyboard and view extra content in compatible games (i.e. maps, radars).
