17-year-old gangraped by 3 at Odisha college

A 17-year-old girl in Odisha has allegedly been gangraped in the college by three non-students at Govindapalli in Malkangiri district, nearly 60 km from here.

The incident took place on November 7 while the survivor was going to college to attend her practical classes.

The complainant added that the trio threatened to make the video viral on social media and eliminate her family members if she revealed anything to anyone. Moreover, the accused even threatened a teacher who came to the survivor’s rescue.

“They threatened my teacher and me, saying if we leak any information about the incident, the matter will become worse and they would kill my family members. I want Kuan Acharya, Mahendra Panigrahi, and Ajay Kumar Sutar (Odia teacher) to be punished severely. Rapists should not be encouraged. I don’t want this to happen to any other girl,” said the survivor.

After the complaint was lodged, the police initiated an investigation into the incident.
