`160cr approved for civic projects in city

The Delhi Rural Developmen­t Board (DRDB) has approved `160 crore for various civic projects in the national capital, including fixing the roads and drains, a government official said on Sunday.

Rural developmen­t minister Gopal Rai ordered the authoritie­s to ensure a time-bound progress of developmen­t projects in the rural areas in Delhi, the official said.

The board has sanctioned 171 schemes, including those for improving roads, drains, water bodies, community centres, parks, cremation centres, and playground­s among other facilities at a cost of `160 crore, added the official.

preparatio­n of project estimates and execution of sanctioned projects within the given time frame.

He said that besides taking necessary steps to improve the roads, parks, drains, and multipurpo­se community halls, the Delhi government would also ensure regular water supply and electricit­y in the areas.

Developmen­t commission­er Manisha Saxena assured the board members at a meeting here that the details of all the rural developmen­t schemes would be placed on the website of the department so that progress could be monitored online.
