Intex Aqua Lion X1+ review: Drop it without any fear

- VISHAL KAWADKAR

The Intex Aqua Lion X1+ comes with a shatterproof glass that is capable of enduring regular or severe falls easily. However, if you still manage to break the shatterproof glass, the company still has your back with a one year screen replacement warranty. It features a 5.2inch HD IPS display and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad core processor with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The smartphone supports 4G VoLTE, is powered by Android 7.0 Nougat and fuelled by a 2800mAh battery. On the camera front, the Lion sports a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera with LED flash on both sides.

Design wise, the Aqua Lions X1+ isn’t something exceptional. However, the USP is its shatterproof display that is capable of enduring regular falls. We tried testing the durability of the phone and dropped it from a good height multiple times. The result was same every time - no cracks, no scratches, no dents. The smartphone is surely a tough nut to crack and outclasses other devices with its shatterproof capabilities.

The display uses MiraVision technology, which is a set of engines that enhances display picture quality. The interface allows for interactive tuning with real time quality feedback. Advanced users can choose Picture Mode/User Mode to activate more tuning options. As for the camera, the app UI is pretty ancient, but offers all the standard options including the HDR mode, Panorama mode and the Face Beauty mode for both rear and front cameras. Pictures taken in sunlight come out decent but the ones taken in low light show a lot of noise.

The camera is good enough for normal photography and one shouldn’t expect a lot from this sensor. As for the overall performance, the X1+ is smooth until you chose to play heavy games or run extensive apps — it’s a basic daily runner.

The Intex Aqua Lions X1+ overall qualifies as a decent smartphone for casual daily use, but the shatterproof display is what you won’t find on any other device out there. The phone is best suited for those with a tough outdoor job and need a rugged phone on the field, which is the main purpose of the phone. Priced at `8,499, the phone fits within a good value for money, but one should not expect this one to be a class performer.
