MAGICAL STIMULANTS

- DR NARAYANA REDDY

At the insistence of his friends Madan gave a bachelor’s party a week before his wedding. In high sprits his friends gave some tips for the first night. One friend suggested viagra to satisfy his new bride. Others suggested herbal medicines as they have no side effects. Madan who had no doubts about his prowess till then started having them now. The next day an advertisement in the newspaper caught his eye. “The wonder drug for whole night of action” went the caption. Here is what he desperately needed to get his sex life up and roaring and brandish his sexual prowess like a stallion, he thought. Gallop he did, not to the bedroom but to the loo!

Man has always been in search of a wonder drug that would enhance his sexual valour. Aphrodisiacs, as these wonder drugs are called, after the Greek goddess of love, Aphrodite, could be foods, herbs, potions or drugs, which are supposed to induce sexual desire and boost performance. In India, the belief in herbal aphrodisiacs is legendary and is said to be without any side effects. Modern medicine also has made rapid advances in the form of Sildenfil Citrate, Tadalafil, Apomorphine, and Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors ( SSRI’s). While these drugs may be effective in one dimension they may fail in other dimensions of aphrodisiacs. Every medicine follows Newton’s third law. They have effects and side effects. It is better to remember that if a drug has no side effect it also can have no effect. Hence medicines no matter what system they originate from should be used under medical supervision

The best place to look for an aphrodisiac is in one’s partner. And the best aphrodisiac a man can have is a woman who can turn him on and in turn get turned on by him.
