Young feels vindicated!

-

Ashley Young’s goals have been few and far between since he started to ply his trade at left back.

But in the last week, the England international has hit a rich vein of goalscoring form.

His first at Vicarage Road was a half- volley which was smashed low into the bottom corner before he expertly curled in a 25a r d f r e e - k i ck y six minutes second.

His two on Tuesday are his only goals so far this term. But he was quick to aim a tongue- in- cheek jibe at the Premier League following the decision to award his strike against Brighton as an own goal to Seagulls defender Lewis Dunk.

‘ That was a tough one today, big 3 points in the end,’ he said on Instagram after the Brighton victory. ‘ Come on @ premierleague... my later for his shot was going on target, I’ve waited long enough for a goal.’

But after the heroics in the 4- 2 win at Watford, the 32- year- old jokingly told the panel that both his strikes were legitimate and they would not be stripped from him.

‘ Good 3 points on the road. Enjoyed being back at Watford much more than last year! Don’t even think about it, @ premierleague, you’re not taking those goals away from me.’ Premier League stars Dele Alli and Paul Pogba linked up in London after the launch of the latest instalment of the Adidas Predator boot.

Pogba was part of the launch for the latest edition of the Predator – Adidas’ latest release which is a predominantly black, lace- less boot – via Periscope on Wednesday.

The pair were involved in a Q& A on Wednesday night, where they reminisced on their predator memories, with Alli insisting the Predator first graced his feet aged four, as well as looking back on the great wearers of the past, including the likes of David Beckham.

As sponsored wearers of the boot, neither were going to slate Adidas’ latest invention, with Pogba, who has played in them since their launch promoting their ‘ quality’.

‘ You have great control,’ he said. ‘ Beautiful.’

Alli followed: ‘ They feel very good, they are probably the most comfortable boots that I’ve worn.’

Following their Q& A session, the pair engaged in a ‘ showdown’, which consisted of a stare- off, won by the United midfielder, a quiz - which Pogba and Alli were five for five - as well a test of their control in the new boot.
