4 fake CBI officers arrested on rape, extortion charges

◗ Threatenin­g to arrest Atiq and Shakir under a rape case, the fake CBI officers demanded 10 lakh to settle the matter. After bargaining they settled at 1 lakh.

The Delhi police on Wednesday busted a gang of extortioni­sts posing as CBI officers.

The accused were identified as Mohd Asif, 24, Rizwan, 48, Naseem, 44, Samsuddin alias Raju and Gaurav alias Shahil. All the accused are residents of East Delhi area.

While Abid Ali along with his friends Atiq and Mohd Shakir of Daryaganj had come to Chacha Nehru Hospital to finalise an alleged property sale deal and were waiting for a vehicle, a Gypsy reached the spot and four persons, posing as CBI officers abducted Atiq and Shakir.

Threatenin­g to arrest the duo under a rape case, the fake CBI officers allegedly demanded 10 lakh to settle the matter. After bargaining they settled at 1 lakh. Mr Sakir handed over 10,000 to the accused and promised to give the remaining soon. To get the remaining

90,000, the victims asked the accused to come to Chacha Nehru Hospital.

Meanwhile, the victims informed Abid about the said incident, who informed the police. The police reached the spot, and upon seeing the Gypsy gave chase to the vehicle and arrested the accused.

During probe, it was revealed Samsudin was the brains behind the impersonat­ion case. He met Rizwan in the jail and getting released from jail, formed a gang along with other accused Asif, Gaurav and Naseen, who owned a Gypsy.

“Samsudin came to know that Atiq had been arrested in a case, so he conspired to extort him posing as a CBI officer with the threat to implicate him in a rape case.

One Gypsy, scooter LML Vespa, four fake CBI, police ID and a false complaint were recovered.
