Delhiites, Panther begin with win

Delhiites Polo and Jindal Panther won on the opening day of the Amity Polo Cup eightgoal polo tournament in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Delhiites Polo beat Beast Carnatic 8- 3 while Jindal Panther defeated Aravali Polo 52 at the Jaipur grounds.

In the first match, Samir Suhag opened the account for Delhiites Polo while Angad Kalaan converted a 60- yard penalty for Beast Carnatic. Suhag added two more goals in the second chukker.

In the third, Basheer Ali and Hurr Ali scored one each for Beast Carnatic while Dhruvpal Godara netted twice for Delhiites Polo.

In the fourth and final chukker, Godara was on target three times to round off the scoreline.

In the second match, Naveen Jindal got the opening goal for Jindal Panther followed by Simran Shergill’s 60- yard penalty conversion and Salim Azmi’s strike in the second chukker.

Antonio Manzorro scored for Aravali Polo in the second chukker while Uday Kalaan netted his team’s second in the third chukker.

Jindal scored his second goal in the third chukker before Shergill scored once more to put it beyond Aravali Polo.

Six teams are participat­ing in the tournament.

The teams are divided into two pools ( Pool A – Beast Carnatic, Delhiites Polo, Sahara Warriors, Pool B – Aravali Polo, Adie Broswon, Jindal Panther).

The top team from each pool will play in the final on Sunday.
