Govt: Schools to face action if fee is hiked

The Delhi government has warned private unaided schools of action if they hike fee arbitrarily in the name of implementation of seventh central pay commission ( CPC).
The statement was made by deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, who also holds the education portfolio, after a meeting chaired by chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and attended by his deputy, MLAs, and education department officials on Thursday.
The chief minister had asked MLAs to get data regarding complaints against private schools in their area, which have increased the fees.
The chief minister, in a post on Twitter, said that parents have met him in the last few days with complaints that schools are demanding very high fee including arrears to implement 7th CPC.
During the meeting, the officials reviewed the complaints by parents and have been further asked to examine the fee hikes by schools.

schools if required,” said Mr Sisodia.
In October, the Aam Aadmi Party ( AAP) government had allowed recognised unaided private schools on Delhi Development Authority ( DDA) land to increase their fees by 15 per cent as an “interim” measure to comply with the seventh CPC recommendations.
However, now it said that many parents have been coming with complaints regarding illegitimate fee hikes.
On Wednesday, the government notified its “fee anomaly committees” to look into such complaints and directed schools to make available to the committee any record of the school and submit its accounts in the proforma as prescribed for the purpose which the committee may demand.
