Stage set for Orange 4x4 Fury

A total of 22 drivers representi­ng 11 teams from different parts of the country will participat­e in the fourth edition of the JK Tyre Orange 4x4 Fury offroading event that gets under way in Dambuk Valley, Arunachal Pradesh, on Friday.

Hosted in the picturesqu­e Lower Dirang Valley village Dambuk, OFAM 2017 will be held over four days and will see competitor­s pitted against each other in the semi- tropical rain forests of Arunachal.

MOCCA ( Arunachal Pradesh), Gerrari Offroaders ( Chandigarh) and KTM Jeepers ( Kerala) are expected to fight it out for the title, given their experience and expertise in this form of motorsport.

The Gerrari Offroaders are the hot favourites, having won the first edition of the 4X4 Fury in 2015. Kabir Waraich, winner of the latest Ultimate Desert Challenge, and Gurmeet Virdi, overall winner in the Force Gurkha RFC India 2017, make a formidable pair.

MOCCA, the local team led by Tseng Tsing Mein, Sunima Mein, Meoseng Namshoom, will also hope better their third- place finish last year.

The KTM JEEPERS from Kottayam, with Sam Kurien at the helm, will also demand attention. New Delhi: Paras Dogra ( 64) and Kuldeep Deewan ( 5/ 18) helped KN Colts beat Cric Heroes by 47 runs in the 1st Skylark T20 cricket tournament at Skylark ground here on Thursday.

KN Colts took first post 149/ 5 in 20 overs.

Dogra did bulk of the scoring and was assisted by Robin Bisht ( 33).

Arvind Kumar Jha ( 1/ 19) was useful with the ball for Cric Heroes, who though failed to shine in their run chase.

Deewan’s left arm spin proved to hot for them as they were pegged back at 102/ 9 in 20 overs.

Ashish Thakwani ( 27) was their only batsman of note while Deewan got support from Vikas Kumar ( 2/ 21).

Dogra was named the man of the match.

CAG, who were trounced 1- 6 by Bharat Petroleum Corporatio­n in the final of the same competitio­n two years ago, came from a goal down to hold BPCL 1- 1 at the MHAL- Mahindra Stadium. Later, ONGC hammered Customs 6- 1. CAG were down 0- 1 after BPCL’s Varun Kumar converted a 20th- minute penalty stroke. They secured parity in the 60th minute through Imran Khan’s field goal.

ONGC took a 4- 0 lead at half time, increasing it to 5- 0 after the half time. Mandeep Singh scored a hat- trick, netting his team’s last three goals. The first three were scored by Gurjant Singh, Nilam Xess and Navjot Singh. Customs pulled one back before ONGC scored through Navpreet Singh.
