SP slams UP govt for July explosive scare drama
The Samajwadi Party, on Tuesday, slammed the government for creating a scare over the alleged recovery of explosive material in July this year.
The explosive material, said to be PETN ( Pentaerythritol tetranitrate), was later found to be a powder used in furniture polish.
Raising the issue during question hour, leader of opposition Ram Govind Chaudhary, said that the government had created a scare and had tried to send out a message against the Opposition — the ‘ explosive’ was found in the Opposition benches.
Giving a verbal notice of breach of privilege, Mr Chaudhary said that it was irresponsible of the government to create a scare on the issue without actually verifying the nature of the powder.
He said that two opposition members were subjected to interrogation by ATS and NIA teams on a matter that was baseless and this amounted to humiliation.
This led to an uproar and SP members barged into the well of the house forcing an adjournment of 10 minutes, extended by another 15 minutes.
It may be recalled that the state government had tightened the security as soon as the powder was found and over 700 entry passes of former legislators and politicians were cancelled along with vehicle passes. Woman journalists were not allowed to carry bags or puses and mobile phones were also struck off the list.
Responding rather strongly to the issue, chief minister Yogi Adityanath asked the opposition not to cross limits and make personal attacks.
