Cab driver killed with screwdriver in Mandwali area

In a shocking incident, a 32- year- old man, Kanti Kumar, was beaten to death and later stabbed to death with a screwdriver in a street near his home. The deceased’s son who came to rescue Kumar’s rescue was also beaten. The incident took place on Saturday night and has been caught on CCTV cameras.

The prime suspect in the case, Mehboob and one other person have been arrested, while others are absconding, the police said.

When the police scanned the CCTV footage, it showed that the the duo being beaten, while Kumar was stabbed to death.

The police said even as the deceased cried for help, people who witnessed the gory incident, did not out of their houses to lend a hand.

The police rushed the injured Kumar and his son to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Monday.

The deceased’s son is undergoing treatment the same hospital.

On Monday, after the hospital doctors declared Kumar dead, the police registered a case. has been registered in Mandawli police station.

The motive for the murder is yet to be cleared, but prima facie the altercation turning violent may have proved costly for Kumar, a police official said, on the condition of anonymity.

The police officer also said that several teams have been constituted to nab the absconders.

The deceased was a driver with an app- based cab company and resided in Allah Colony.

“We have formed teams to nab the remaining suspects,” deputy commissioner of police ( east) Omvir Singh confirmed. in
