Gangster held in attempt to murder

The police on Tuesday arrested a gangster in two attempt to murder cases and recovered a countrymad­e automatic carbine machine gun along with five live cartridges.

The gangster, Salman, was opened fire on the police to avoid arrest in Sahibabad of Uttar Pradesh, the police said.

The accused has been identified as Salman alias Zaki, 24, of Bulandshah­ar. He was also wanted for the murder of a builder, SP Singh, in Sahibabad.

The Anti- Snatching and Robbery Cell, Delhi police received a tip off that the accused would come to ‘ Tent Wala’ school in Jafrabad, Delhi on Monday and laid a trap to nab him.

After a chase, the team apprehende­d Salman, who is also a sharpshoot­er, along with the firearm and five live cartridges.

During interrogat­ion, Salman said that he had committed his first crime in 2011 by shooting one Sachin in Gulaothi. In 2012, he shot down a woman in Nizamuddin. herafter, continued a spate of murders, including a revenge murder in 2014.

“While in judicial custody, Salma came in contact of with a gangster of Pasonda gang and Yunus alias Kale gang ( Yunus calls himself Kale gang). A dispute arose between one Ekta Builders and Yunus. Yunus had demanded Rs 50 lakhs from Ekta Builders and when denied, planned to murder Eka Builders’ proprietor SP Singh.

On November 9, Yunus shot down Mr Singh in his office in broad daylight and escaped.

The others involved in the extortion cum murder case were arrested, while Salman absconded to his native Bulandshah­r to evade arrest, Rajender Prasad Meena, additional DCP of Northeast Delhi said.
