2G scam: Congress march up to Parliament

- ATUL KRISHAN

Thousands of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee ( DPCC) workers, along with city Congress president Ajay Maken, held a protest march towards Parliament House on Friday seeking an apology from the BJP to the nation for spreading allegations regarding 2G allocation on the basis of gossips and rumours.

Mr Maken said that the Congress MPs will voice their protest inside Parliament, while the Congress workers will protest on the streets to take this fight to a logical conclusion.

Addressing the party workers, Mr Maken said during the Congress- led UPA regime at the Centre, the BJP did not allow Parliament to function for three years on the 2G allocation issue. He said that then Comptroller and Auditor General ( CAG) Vinod Rai had announced that the government had suffered a loss of 1,76,000 crore.

But the CBI told the court that there was a scam to the tune of 31,000 crore in the 2G case, while one of the CAG officials said that there was a scam of 36,000 crore in the 2G case. But the court in its verdict has said that there was no scam in the 2G case.

Mr Maken said that the BJP and their allies had whipped up the 2G scam to defame the Congress, but the court verdict has exposed the lies of the BJP.

He said that the 2G case ran for seven years, but not a single witness came before the court to depose, which proves that there was no scam or corruption in the 2G allocations.

The Congress workers tried to break the police barricade at Parliament Street in a bid to march towards Parliament House.

The city Congress president said that the 2G case was monitored by the Supreme Court the prosecutors were appointed by the SC, and the day- to- day proceedings of the trial were sent to the SC in a sealed cover, therefore, no finger can be raised at the court’s verdict.
