-

A 32- year- old man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly confining and raping a 14- yearoldgirl for nine days in northwest district’s Budh Vihar. The arrested accused worked a watchman.

According to the police, the victim, a resident of northwest Delhi’s Netaji Subhash Place, was missing since November 3.

The accused, identified as Aashram, was arrested from his hometown in Madhya Pradesh. The accused had changed his appearance and had got his hair short cut and grown a French beard to conceal his identity.

On November 3, the girl’s parents filed a missing complaint at Netaji Subhash Place police station. In initial investigation, it was found that a watchman, living near the victim’s house, was also missing from the same day.

It was suspected that he could be involved in the alleged kidnapping of the girl. However, the police failed to trace him despite questioning his family repeatedly about his whereabouts.

Subsequently, the girl was found from Pitampura on November 11 while the accused was missing.

The girl told the police that the accused had offered her spiked food and kidnapped her. He held her captive at a place in Buddh Vihar and repeatedly raped her, said a senior police officer.

After he learnt that the police was looking for him, he abandoned the girl in Pitampura and fled from the city.

The girl was counselled and a case was registered against the accused. as
