Fuel tank leaks in IndiGo flight, passengers deboard

A Thiruvananthapuram bound IndiGo flight from Delhi had a close shave when it suffered a fuel leak at Indira Gandhi International ( IGI) Airport on Tuesday. There were 173 passengers disembarked from the plane after detection of the leak just before take- off.
The fire services were called in to take care of the situation. Reportedly, the mishap was taken care off and no passenger or crew was hurt. This fuel leak instance isn’t a standalone instance of Indigo being in trouble.
Keeping in mind the safety standard, the authorities concerned also kept emergency services at standby as per IndiGo procedures, said sources.
Earlier, too Delhibound IndiGo airlines plane from Mumbai with around 160 passengers on board on Saturday returned to the Mumbai airport 20 minutes after take- off due to another fuel leak.
Leakage in the fuel system of the aircraft forced a the pilot to take back the flight to the city.
In yet another incident, an IndiGo flight between Hyderabad and Dubai took off with less than required amount of fuel, last year, and had to be diverted to Mumbai for refueling thereby prompting a Directorate General of Civil Aviation ( DGCA) inquiry into the issue.
Meanwhile, the security has been tightened at all airports in the country citing vulnerability of the holiday season.
The measure has been taken as a precaution to prevent any terror attacks, so much so all passengers will now have to go through a greater level of scrutiny.
