Cops provide LPGstoves to night patrolling staff

In order to increase night patrolling and step up security measures in the capital, the city police has made arrangemen­ts to provide LPG heater stoves to the night patrolling staff.

Recently in Mangolpuri, senior police officers visited a picket and boosted the morale and enjoyed the tea served by the night patrolling staff. The whole idea was the brainchild of the DCP, Outer.

The Outer district police has started this initiative keeping two things in mind. First to keep the night duty police officers warm during the Delhi’s winter and secondly to check the use of lighting up bonfires, which rise to pollution.

“From the past few days, the pollution level as well as cold in Delhi is on the rise. To protect themselves from cold, the night patrolling staff use bonfire ( wood and coal) to keep themselves warm during cold nights. Since this will increase pollution, so we came up with gives

the option of distributi­ng LPG heater stoves to them and banning bonfires,” said Dinesh Kumar, ACP Special Staff, Outer.

“The LPG heater stoves will also help the night picket and patrolling officers to make tea or coffee during during the cold nights, which will keep them warm and awake,” Mr Kumar added.

Among the first ones to be felicitate­d were the police officials of Picket 88 in Mangolpuri.

“This initiative has filled us with joy and confidence as the senior police officers are taking good care of us in this weather. All of us will now work with more power and alertness,” said an a police officer of the night staff. Panic prevailed after a lantern ( a square, curved, or polygonal structure on the top of a dome or a room with the sides glazed or open so as to admit light) of an under constructi­on building caved in, while removing it in Gaurav Nagar’s Prem Nagar area on Thursday morning.

Police said that a 28year- old labourer died in the mishap.

The incident took place at around 9.45am in Gaurav Nagar’s Prem Nagar area under Aman Vihar police station limits.

The deceased labourer has been identified as Ram Gopal alias Guddu, a resident of Janta Enclave in the same area.

Investigat­ion revealed that constructi­on work was underway on a onestorey ◗ area.

At the time of the incident, Ram Gopal was working inside the building near the staircase and was fixing the lantern.

While removing the lantern to set it, the deceased had removed the wooden logs supporting the lantern when it collapsed on him burying him under the debris, building in the according to the police..

The police said that hearing a loud thud, two other labourers working on the constructi­on site and busy fixing the lantern for the loft, came immediatel­y to help the deceased. They sustained major injuries.

Meanwhile, the police was informed, who then rushed to the spot and with the help of locals took out a critically injured Ram Gopal from the debris.

The deceased was then rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.

The police has registered a case of death due to negligence against the supervisor and is questionin­g him.

A case has been registered in the Aman Vihar police station and investigat­ion in the case is underway.
