Under the leadership of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ajay Maken, the Congress workers on Thursday celebrated the 133rd Foundation Day of the party by unfurling the party flag in all the blocks of Delhi.

Mr Maken unfurled the Congress flag at the Valmiki Basti, Panchkuian Road. Speaking on the occasion, he said, “The Congress was indomitable and can never be written off. The British had tried to write off our party, but they were forced out of India. On the other hand, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh ( RSS), which is trying to finish off the Congress, will perish itself.”

The history of the Congress was the oldest one compared to other political parties. Mr Maken said workers of the Congress should feel fortunate that they are celebrating its 133rd Foundation Day, he added.

Mr Maken said that the Congress was nurtured by stalwarts such as Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, former Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.

“Delhi Mahila Congress president Dr Sai Anamika said that the party believes in connecting with the people to solve their problems. “We always think of developing the country and the lives of the people. We don’t believe in divide and rules,” she said.

She also said that the Congress will move ahead under the dynamic leadership of Rahul Gandhi and all the workers will work hard for the development of the people who stand at the rear end of the queue.
