Insha Mushtaq, the 16year- old Kashmiri girl who lost her vision completely after suffering grievous injuries in security forces’ pellet firing 19 months ago on Tuesday qualified her board examinations, sending the Valley into celebrations.

In November last year, Insha appeared in her Class 10 board examination. She was assisted in writing her papers by another girl student appointed for the job by the JKBOSE. She had said, “She was very cooperative. She read the question papers for me because I can’t read and then wrote the answers as dictated by me.” She had also said that that she has done fairly well.

Many people, including former CM Omar Abdullah and the Valley’s chief Muslim cleric and separatist leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, took to social media platforms to congratulate her. Mr Abdullah while congratulating to all who cleared their Class 10 examination conducted by the J& K Board of School Education tweeted, “A special shout out to young Insha who was blinded by pellets during the 2016 protests & has cleared her 10th exams today. May Allah keep rewarding your hard work & efforts.”

The Mirwaiz wrote on Twitter, “Congratulations to brave Insha Mushtaq on clearing her Class 10 exams. Despite going through the trauma of losing her eye sight due to pellets, she has managed an amazing feat. Her determination and resilience is an example for everyone. May Allah bless her always!”

Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms were flooded with posts from their users congratulating Insha. Irfan Yasin, a former government official, wrote on his Facebook timeline ,“Tabish Manzoor secures 98 per cent marks... Well done Tabish. However, the outstanding achievement is that of Insha Mushtaq who lost her eyes to pellets...”

Earlier chief minister Mehbooba Mufti, in a tweet, conveyed her good wishes to the students. She said. “My best wishes to the students in J& K for the JKBOSE 10th class results. With hard work & perseverance there are no limits to what you can achieve.”
