According to the police, the incident took place at about 8 am when the deceased, identified as Deepak Chopra, jumped before the train. A resident of Park View Apartment in Sector 12 of Dwarka, the deceased was retired from a pharmaceutical company in Noida. Chopra was admitted to a hospital with major head injuries, but later succumbed to his injuries in a hospital.

He had taken an appointment from a doctor on Saturday, but instead of visiting the doctor, he left home for a morning walk and later went to the Metro station.

The police further said that by the time driver of the train could apply brakes, Chopra came under the wheels of the train. The CISF officials present at the spot rushed him to a hospital with major head injuries, they said.

The movement of the trains at the station was disrupted for a few minutes, the officials said. The family of the deceased has been informed in Canada and probe has been ordered into the same.
