In a bid to ward off “shadyantrakari shaktiyaan” ( conspiring forces) trying to harm the nation’s interests and possibly to seek “divine intervention” for his party in the coming elections in key states, BJP MP Maheish Girri and Shri Yogini Peetham are planning an eight- day “Rashtra Raksha Mahayagya” from March 18.

The event, at the Red Fort Maidan, will have 108 yagna kunds, prepared from the soil and water of the LoC areas and also the “char dhams”.

NEW DELHI, JAN. 22

The Delhi BJP on Monday attacked Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal over deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia’s open letter to people of the city on disqualification of 20 AAP MLAs and challenged it to contest on all the 70 seats. Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari, however, claimed that the BJP will win 15 to 18 Assembly seats where bypolls will be held after disqualification of the AAP MLAs.

Mr Tiwari’s remark was in response to Mr Sisodia’s open letter to Delhiites questioning the unconstitutional and illegal disqualification of 20 AAP MLAs and its accusations against the BJP government of indulging in dirty politics.

“People’s answer: Don’t write letters and instead of contesting for 20 seats, contest on all 70 seats. Save your image and come in public,” Mr Tiwari tweeted, quoting Mr Sisodia’s tweet.

Reacting to the open letter, Mr Tiwari said that such old hollow tactics of evoking sympathy, as practised by the Kejriwal government, do not impress the citizens any more.

“People of Delhi are actually looking forward to fresh polls to Delhi Assembly and not just a by- election for 20 seats,” he said, adding, “We call upon Aam Aadmi Party to come before the people in the elections rather than trying to play the victim card. People very well know that the disqualification of MLAs is the result of team Arvind Kejriwal’s greed for power.”

Claiming that an internal survey was conducted by the party, Mr Tiwari said the reports of this survey show that BJP will win a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 18 seats.

“We are ready for the polls and confident of defeating AAP with people’s support,” he said. Leader of the Opposition Vijender Gupta, termed Mr Sisodia’s open letter as “nothing but a bundle of lies and falsehood.”
