- AGE CORRESPONDENT

Gursimar Badwal and Neha Tripathi shared the lead after the opening round of the second leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour 2018 with 2- over 72s at the par- 70 BPGC course in Mumbai on Tuesday.

Smriti Mehra ( 73), Sharmila Nicollet ( 74), Gaurika Bishnoi and Tvesa Malik ( 75) followed the leaders in that order.

Gursimar had a fine start with two early birdies but a run of three bogeys saw her slip. She did make up with a birdie on her back nine but a late bogey saw her finish on 72.

Later in the day, Neha caught up with a birdie on the closing hole.

Smriti may well have been in the lead with three birdies in her last five holes, but a triple bogey spoilt her card.

The day’s comeback was by Sharmila, who had three double bogeys in her first five holes but she made a fine recovery over the next 13 holes with four birdies against another two bogeys.

Gaurika, making her first start of the season, looked a bit rusty as she went four over in her first nine holes.

On the back nine, she had two more bogeys against a lone birdie.

Tavleen Batra and Suchitra Ramesh carded 76s for T7, while Afshan Fatima ( 77) was ninth. Amandeep Drall, Mehar Atwal, Saaniya Sharma, Ayesha Kapur and Siddhi Kapoor were all T10 with 78s.
