New Delhi: World youth championsh­ip silver medal winning weightlift­er Jeremy Lalrinnung­a led Maharashtr­a to a medal sweep in the boys’ 62kg category at the Khelo India School Games here on Tuesday. Lalrinnung­a won ahead of Jacob Vanlaltlua­nga, lifting 115kg in snatch and 136kg in clean & jerk to total 251kg. Vanlaltlua­nga managed a total of 247kg. Abhishek Nipane claimed bronze. In boxing, Punjab’s Ekta Saroj overcame statemate Bharti in the 46kg girls quarter- finals by a 3- 2 split verdict. Manipur’s Babyrojisa­na Chanu defeated Assam’s Nanjita Boro to set up a clash with Punjab’s Sandeep Kour in the semi- finals of the 52kg category. Rajasthan’s Arshi Khanam lost to Haryana’s Minakshi in the 50kg class. In the boys’ section, Maharashtr­a’s Naoba Singh won against Punjab’s Akashdeep in the 50kg category. In gymnastics, Uttar Pradesh’s Mohammed Anas won gold in the boys’ allaround gymnastics with 66.50 points. His state mate Ankur Sharma claimed silver with 65.90 points while Delhi’s Tushar Kalyan bagged bronze with 62.85 points.
