ATM card cloning gang busted

It opens fire at police party when intercepte­d; 3 arrested

A team of Delhi police ( South) busted a gang, involved in cloning ATM cards, with the arrest of three accused. The gang fired at the police party when it was intercepte­d.

The police said that the accused were involved in firing at a police constable on January 11. An attempt to murder case was registered at Delhi Cantt. Police have arrested Praveen Dagar ( 24), Ajay Kumar ( 23) and Vipin Dagar ( 25). The team has recovered a Maruti Swift car used in the crime. Forged ATM cards and a pistol with four live cartridges were also recovered.

According to the police, the gang is a criminal syndicate specialisi­ng in ATM cloning in Delhi and NCR. Before committing the crime, they would select an ATM where there was no guard. They would install a skimmer in the mouth of ATM where the card was inserted and an IP camera installed just above the keypad. After getting the data in the skimmer and the IP camera, they would pass it. In return of that data, they took cash or got the ATM card cloned. Subsequent­ly, they used to withdraw money from ATM.

Police said that their crime came to light on January 11. A PCR call was received regarding an accident at IOC red light, Delhi Cantt.

On reaching the spot, the police found a Maruti Swift car abandoned at IOC red light. The accused present in the car opened fire on constable Gaurav at the flyover loop of Sanjay T- Point near Mmehram Nagar red light. The constable started chasing the car and also informed the Delhi Cantt SHO Vidyadhar Singh. On getting the informatio­n, the SHO with staff rushed towards IOC red light. However, the gang members managed to flee the spot.

During investigat­ion, the ownership of the Maruti Swift car was taken. It was registered in the name of one Vipin Dagar. He had taken the car on loan and the bank statement and CDR were analysed. It was known that the accused were in Goa. Accordingl­ly, they were arrested.
