SPIRANAC OPENS UP ON BULLYING

-

Professional golfer and social media sensation Paige Spiranac has given an honest account of her LET Tour debut, admitting that online bullying drove her to a point where she “didn’t want to live anymore”.

The American was invited to compete in the Dubai Ladies Masters two years ago and make her first start as a professional, reports the Daily Mail.

Spiranac met with a wave of abuse after receiving the sponsor’s invite, with trolls even sending death threats because they believed she was sexualising golf and selling her body.

The 24- year- old, who recently modelled for the Sports Illustrated swimwear range, spent time leading up to the tournament in floods of tears, afraid to leave her hotel room.

“I was sitting in the bathroom just bawling and was like ‘ I don’t want to go through this pain, this feel of helplessness. Being alone. Scared,” she was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.

“I said I never wanted anyone to feel the way I felt in that moment.

“How scared I was. How helpless I felt in that I was bullied so bad to the point that I didn’t want to live anymore.

“People of all walks of life are cyber- bullied every single day and that’s not okay,” Spiranac, who is a cyber bullying ambassador for a non- profit organisation called Cyberspace, added.
