Bellerin turns speaker

-

Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin recently addressed the Oxford Union about his experiences in football to become the first active Premier League player to speak in the prestigious debating society. Bell erin joined an illustrious list of politicians, actors, musicians and academics to have spoken at the society, which was founded in 1823, revealing the contrast in life at Arsenal compared to Barcelona, reports the Daily Mail.

“It was like night and day, the difference between Barcelona and Arsenal,” he was quoted as saying.

“At Barcelona I was just 8- 16, when I came to Arsenal I was a professional footballer. At Barcelona we were just kicking around on the pitch, at Arsenal, my first day, there were no balls.”

Bellerin has a number of interests outside football. The Spain international is passionate about the fashion industry and can regularly be spotted in eye- catching dresses.

His penchant for fashion has brought him under fire from some supporters for what they perceive to be his off- field distractions.

“So many people tweet me saying focus on the game, having seen me at fashion shows or whatever, and I am just like ‘ don’t worry’.

“I am a human being. I have passions, I have hobbies but equally, I am a footballer and that is my main focus,” he added.
