Inter- state ATM burglar accused of murders held

An inter- state fugitive ATM burgler, reportedly involved in 13 cases of murder, attempt to murder and Arms Act cases of UP and MP, has been arrested.

The police team on February 3, received informatio­n at 4 pm, about the absconding criminal, identified as Asrar Mohd ( 36 ) and apprehende­d him from ISBT, Sarai Kale Khan, when he came there to meet his associates.

The police also recovered cash 15,000 from his ` possession, which was looted from an ATM of Bank of Baroda in Gaya, Bihar.

According to the police, he said that the gang hailing from Badaun ( UP) came to the capital and nearbyu areas to commit burglaries. For this reason, the accusedf visited various areas to identify ATMs.

During interrogat­ion, he said he started committing thefts in and around his native place in Badaun ( UP) 10 years ago.

He came in contact with Laik Ali of his village who used to commit thefts from ATMs by breaking them.

He accompanie­d Laik Ali along with Phool Mian, Virasat, Virender, Babloo, Jahir etc to Madhya Pradesh ( MP). Along with his aides, he committed burglaries by breaking ATMs with iron rods in Chindawada, Jabalpur, Raksol, Baithur, Narsinghpu­r, Hoshangaba­d etc.

In 2015, Asrar was arrested by Bareilly and Badaun police in murder, attempt to murder and Arms Act cases. In 2017, after coming out of jail, he started living on rented accommodat­ion in Maharajpur near Interstate Bus Terminal (( ISBT) Anand Vihar.

In December 2017, he went to Gaya, Bihar along with Nawab, Jahangir, Murshad, Ummeeda, Nansar Ali and Salman and broke an ATM, but came bvack empty handed. They returned in January this year to Gaya and broke an ATM of Bank of Baroda and looted 8,80,000. `
