Fake job racket busted, woman and her son held

The team of Delhi police busted a mother- son duo running a racket in promising jobs overseas.

According to the police, accused Madhuri Sharma and her son Vishal Sharma, both residents of Vakad, Distt. Pune, Maharashtr­a, posed as director of Mastech Experts Ltd. They were running the company in Netaji Subhash Place in Pitampura. It was like a family syndicate being run by two cheats — Madhuri and Vishal Sharma in associatio­n with one Ashok who is a cousin of Madhuri.

Probe revealed that the syndicate had duped more than hundreds of people. The police took action when as many as 100 complaints were received against the aforementi­oned firm in Subhash Place police station. The complainan­ts alleged that they promised applicants immigratio­n and jobs abroad in Germany, Canada, Australia, etc. They took a handsome fee and passports from the applicants. The team scanned accounts, office premises and mobile phones of the accused. Their hideout was traced to a residentia­l area in Pune. A raid was conducted and two of the accused were arrested. The accused told the police that they used to run ‘ committees’ when they were residing in Vidyapati Nagar, Inder Enclave- II in Nirhari. They pocketed money of several innocent persons, said the police.

Later, they opened a call centre in the name of Mastech Experts Infosoluti­on Pvt Ltd in Sector 3, Rohini. The said business was not profitable and they incurred losses. So, they closed it and started a new business of sending people abroad with job opportunit­ies in lieu of a huge amount of fees.

At the time of arrest, they had settled in Pune, Maharashtr­a and were about to start a similar business with a new name Overseas Immigratio­n Consultant­s ( OIC). However, one of the accused Ashok Kumar is absconding.

Till date, the cheated amount is about ` 60 lakh, the police added. constitute­d.
