ALL EYES ON K’TAKA

-

For the coming Karnataka Assembly polls, the BSP and the Janata Dal ( Secular) have already entered into an alliance. And now, the CPI( M) is reported to be negotiating with the JD( S) for an electoral understanding. It is not clear whether these non- BJP, non- Congress entities propose to take on the saffron party together in a three- cornered contest, or in coordination with the Congress in the larger national interests of preserving secularism in the country by putting up a one- onone fight against the “communal” forces. CLEAR THE AIR APROPOS YOUR editorial, Rafale deal: Govt has to be forthcoming ( Feb. 10), Arun Jaitley’s allegation that the Congress is compromising India’s security by asking Rafale details is unfounded. The BJP, which boasts of a different morality and transparency, is hiding under the “confidentiality provisions” like the UPA. How can the procurement price of Rafale be brought under the secrecy clause? Mr Jaitley’s U- turn, refusing to part with information over the deal, gives rise to the suspicion that there was something fishy. The Modi government must clear the air. S. S. Paul Nadia, West Bengal STOP HATEMONGERS

BJP MP Vinay Katiyar’s comment that Muslims should leave India and settle in Pakistan and Bangladesh is highly condemnable. As the BJP is in power both at the Centre and Uttar Pradesh, where Mr Katiyar comes from, no one is going to take any action against him for spreading hatred against minorities. It is high time all right thinking individuals must protest together against such hatemongers. Fazal Ubrahum
