While Akshay Kumar’s movie Pad Man, which released this week, has received praises it’s already run into trouble on plagiarism charges.

Ripu Daman Jaiswal, a writer, has accused the makers of the movie with plagiarism. He claims that he had written a script that was similar to the one he had sent to Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.

The writer apparently tried to raise his voice in December last year, but nothing much could be said or done till the movie itself released. And now that Pad Man has hit the screens, Ripu has pointed out many similarities between his script and the movie. Claiming he had registered a film based on Arunachalam Muruganantham and Saathi biodegradable sanitary pads, in a post on Facebook Ripu wrote, “I had registered the film on 5th of December 2016 with Screen Writer Association and sent to Ryan Stephan ( Karan johar’s production — Creative head) and personally to Vikram Aditya Motwane. And you know what happened? After ten days on 16th of December 2016, I heard the news that Mrs. Twinkle Khanna revealed that her production is making a film based on his life, starring Akshay Kumar. Ripu claims that a lot of fictional scenes in the movie have been copied from his script too. Later, in a tweet, he even mentions that the narration has the exact same dialogues too. “I remember I was in the library when I wrote this dialogue and was truly elated. Honestly, I surprised myself that day. Tell me, how on earth can you steal someone’s dialogue? This is unfair.”

After he saw the movie and realised that about 11 scenes are allegedly ripped off from his script, he decided to get the law to intervene. The writer has now filed an FIR for plagiarism.
