Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Tuesday tabled the state Budget amid ruckus created by Opposition parties over the recent accident in Muzaffarpur that killed nine school children.

The deputy chief minister said that despite efforts by the RJD to create disturbances in the Bihar Assembly, the state government has managed to table a Budget of ` 1 lakh 60 thousand crore.

The prime focus of the NDA government is to provide better infrastructure, road network, energy, education, and health. But “instead of welcoming

the Budget, the RJD is trying to divert public attention by various other issues”.

The state government is facing flak from the Opposition parties for not arresting BJP leader Manoj Baitha whose vehicle was reportedly involved in the accident.

Leader Of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav had earlier blamed the state government for “providing an escape route” to the accused by delaying his arrest.

He told reporters on Tuesday that “the Opposition parties want a reply from Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar and his deputy Sushil Kumar over the delay in action against Manoj Baitha who was driving his SUV on Saturday when the accident occurred”.

The RJD also demanded a probe to find whether the accused was under the influence of alcohol while driving his SUV on Saturday.
