Woman turns tables on molester

Slaps man making lewd comments, takes him to police station

A Delhi woman on Sunday literally turned tables on her harasser by grabbed him by the collar, and dragging him to the nearby police station.

The incident took place in west Delhi on February 25 when she grabbed the nearest person making obscene comments in a crowded market by the collar and took him to the police station.

The police said that the woman was walking with her friend in Ghaffar Market, Karol Bagh when the incident took place.

In her complaint to the police, the woman, who has not been identified, alleged that a group of four to five men started following the her and her friend.

In order to avoid them, both the women reportedly got into a cycle- rickshaw. But the group of men did not leave them alone.

The group of eve teasers pursued the woman and her friend even while passing cheap and obscene remarks.

What happened next shocked many people there, including the accused.

The woman reportedly got down from the cyclericks­haw and started slapping one of the person’s harassing her.

The angry woman then dragged the accused to the police station and registered an first informatio­n report ( FIR) against the person.

The police have arrested two men in connection with the incident. The eve teasers have been identified as Abhishek and Manish who belong to Charkhi Dadri of Haryana.

According to the data obtained by the Delhi police in 2017, more than five rape cases are reported on an average daily in Delhi.

However, the number of cases reported reduced from 2,064 in 2016 to 2,049 last year.

According to the data released by the Delhi police, as many as 3,273 molestatio­n cases were reported in 2017.

However, the cases of eve- teasing declines from 894 in 2016 to 621 in 2017.
