A fake doctor has surfaced from AIIMS Hospital and he was caught from the main emergency wing.

According to sources, there were speculations among security officials and resident doctors about an imposter claiming himself to be a consultant in orthopaedic department, AIIMS Trauma Centre.

The man identified as, Ram Kishan Gupta, claimed to be working in the AIIMS Trauma Centre and asked the junior residents at the emergency to admit a patient.

The fake doctor was caught red- handed in the hospital, a security official said. The doctor was caught on Tuesday morning in the AIIMS surgical emergency.

The CSO of AIIMS, R. S. Rawat, said that the man had come to the trauma trauma centre with a patient on February 5 last and once more before that.

“The security officials had suspected that he was a fake when he had come last time, but before we could act, he left. We procured the CCTV footage that established he was not working at AIIMS. His picture was also circulated among the guards and staff. Today, when he came to the emergency wing, we caught him," Mr Rawat said. As per the police, the accused had revealed that he did his MBBS in 2000 and MS in 2006 from University College of Medical Sciences in New Delhi. The police also recovered a stethoscope from his possession.

“He confessed he did so to get his relatives treated free of cost. Interrogation is underway to find out if he has completed MBBS. A case under Section 419 of the IPC was lodged against him,” police said.
