Vishwas dig at AAP over NE poll results
New Delhi: AAP leader Kumar Vishwas on Saturday took a dig at the party leadership over its poor performance in elections in the northeastern states, saying those who polled votes that could be counted on the fingers of one hand were still indulging in negativity. “The activists who used to question polling and its process... Their votes can be counted on the fingers of one hand instead of EVMs, but still they are indulging in negativity. This is dangerous for democracy,” Mr Vishwas wrote on Twitter, in an apparent dig at AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal. Following its poor performance in Punjab last year, Mr Kejriwal had questioned the authenticity of electronic voting machines. According to the data available on the Election Commission’s website, the AAP contested six seats in Meghalaya and three in Nagaland. The party could not save its deposit in eight of them. The AAP’s Akavi N Zhimomi from the Ghaspani constituency in Nagaland polled 6,233, and finished a distant third. New Delhi: The reconstruction work at the Netaji Subhash Park in Old Delhi has been completed by the DMRC, which has written to the area’s civic body to take over the park for maintenance, officials said on Saturday. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation ( DMRC) had taken over the 96- year- old park for undertaking work on the extension of the Violet Line till Kashmere Gate. “We have finished the reconstruction work at Subhash Park, the ensemble statue of Netaji has been restored. The lawns have been restored and pathways paved,” a senior DMRC official said. “We recently wrote to the NDMC ( North Delhi Municipal Corporation) to take over the park for maintenance. We are awaiting communication from their side,” he told. The reconstruction work at the park had begun after the opening of the Jama Masjid Metro Station. The park was inaugurated originally by the then Prince of Wales as the All- India King Edward Memorial in 1922. The lush green park is spread over around five acres.
