India’s 25year- long trail of Yasin Man so or Mohamed Farooq, alias Farooq Takla, an alleged close aide of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim and key accused in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts, came to an end on Thursday with his arrest by the CBI at Delhi airport on his arrival from Dubai.

His deportation follows his detention by the UAE government three months and India’s subsequent extradition request.

Takla, 56, played a role in allegedly arranging for hosting in Dubai 25odd Mumbai blasts accused and then dispatching them to Pakistan for receiving training in sophisticated arms including AK- 47s, grenades, rocket launchers and bomb- making using explosives like RDX, sources said.

Seven months after a special Tada court passed judgment on the second phase of the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blast case, the CBI arrested and produced before the court Farooq Takla, believed to be an aide of fugitive don Dawood Ibrahim, in this case.

CBI counsel Deepak Salvi requested special judge G. A. Sanap to remand Farooq to CBI custody as it wanted to carry out further probe and collect evidence.

“He is one of the key conspirators,” said Mr Salvi, adding that he had dealt with plane tickets of other accused. According to the CBI, he was the key person to send the co- accused to Pakistan via Dubai.
