The Delhi University ( DU) on Friday said that it has approved the government’s list of nominees for the college governing bodies of 28 governmentfunded colleges and requested the Delhi government to release the funds soon.

In a statement issued on Friday, registrar prof Tarun Kumar Das said, “In an executive council ( EC) meeting held on March 7, the university has considered the nominations of persons on the governing bodies of 28 government- sponsored colleges.”

“The council unanimously decided to appeal to the government to release the funds immediately to the colleges so that teachers, students, and staff are not affected,” the registrar said in the statement.

The meeting of the council was held on Wednesday night and went on till Thursday morning.

The council has also asked the government to “provide details of 30 names, which do not have the proper details mentioned in the list”.

The EC urged the government to furnish all details such as educational qualification, profession and affiliation of some of the members it has recommended.

“We have decided to communicate all remaining names to concerned colleges so that governing bodies are formed at the earliest,” the statement also said.

In July last year, the government had ordered a freeze on funding of 28 DU colleges.
