28 schools request CISF to upgrade security apparatus
In the wake of the killing of Class 2 student in a Gurgaon school in September last year, more than 25 from across the country have sought Central Industrial Security Force’s ( CISF) help to strengthen security in their institutions.
Officiating director general, CISF, Alok Kumar Pateria said that till date 28 schools have requested them to provide consultancy services to strengthen their security apparatus for safety of schoolchildren.
In September 2017, a Class two student of a reputed school in Gurgaon was found with his throat slit in the school bathroom.
Addressing an annual press conference on the eve of the 49th Raising Day of the CISF, Mr Pateria said four schools have already deposited consultancy fee and the matter is under consideration related to the other 24 schools.
According to the list provided by the CISF, out of 28 schools three schools, Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan, Nirmal Bhartia School and Navodaya Vidyalaya, are from the capital. Other schools include Doon School ( Dehradun), Scindia School ( Gwalior), Birla Education Trust ( Pilani), La Martiniere ( Kolkata), St. Xavier’s Institution ( Kolkata), VIBGYOR Groups of Schools ( Mumbai), Poddar Education Network ( Mumbai), Children Welfare Centre High School ( Mumbai), Oakridge International Schools ( Hyberabad) and Silver Oak International School ( Bengaluru) among others.
“Our consultancy wing has earned revenue of 10.71 crore for the government. We have recorded a revenue of 3.02 crore in 2017 and in January this year, the CISF has earned a revenue worth 61.25 lakh for the government,” said Mr Pateria.
