Police busts fake marksheet, certificate scam

The Special Investigation Unit of the crime branch has busted a syndicate involved in preparing fake marksheets and certificates of different universities and colleges situated in various parts of the country.
The accused was in possession of more than 300 fake marksheets and certificates of different universities and colleges, which were to be delivered to the respective contact persons.
Police said that with the arrest of one Kapil Goyal, a resident of Bhiwani ( 23), the team has been able to unearth the syndicate running in the capital. Probe revealed that the accused was in touch with different coaching centres and agents at various cities across the country. They were in touch with each other through mails and Whatsapp.
The coaching centres and agents arranged the contact persons for the accused so that he could sell them fake marksheets and certificates.
The accused charged 7,000 from the coaching centres and agents against one set of fake marksheet and certificates. He used to send across one set of fake marksheet and certificates through courier only after they transferred the money into his bank account. Further, the coaching centres and agents charged more from gullible students.
On March 7, the police received a tip off regarding preparation and supply of fake marksheets and certificates of different Colleges/ Universities by one Goyal.
Accordingly, they laid a trap near the exit gate of ISBT Ring Road. At about 06.00pm, Goyal reached the spot in a Tata Nexon Car and was apprehended by the police.
One laptop which contained the performa of fake marksheets and certificates of different universities and colleges was recovered.
During interrogation, the accused led them to his office at Jaina Tower2, District Centre, Janakpuri where four laptops, colour printer, scanner cutting machine, more than 300 fake marksheets and certificates of various universities and colleges and holograms were seized.
