PC: Law strikes at basic feature of Constitution

- AGE CORRESPONDENT

The Aadhaar Act, which was passed as a money bill, should be struck down as its provisions had no relation to the nature of money bill, senior advocate P. Chidambaram argued in the Supreme Court on Tuesday.

Passing of the Act as a money bill in Lok Sabha “strikes at the basic structure of federalism,” depriving Rajya Sabha, representing aspirations of states, of its wisdom in suggesting amendments, argued the former Union finance minister, adding that it sets a dangerous precedence.
