Summer is the perfect season to flaunt those long front slit kurtis. Here are some fun ways to showcase this look
Moving forward from the plain kurtas, front slit long kurtas are like a breath of fresh air this summer- spring season. Designers have come up with innovative ways to pair them with jeans, palazzos, bell pants and even skirts. Giving out a trendy as well as formal and festive look, long kurtas have created quite a storm in the fashion world.
Long kurtas with a front slit make for a nice change and take away from the monotony of those boring old salwar suits that we are all used to. They can be styled with a variety of pants from palazzos, cigarette pants, jeans more suggest fashion stylist Tanya Bhatt,
“Front slits on kurtas gives a dramatic flair to the look and adds a nice silhouette play to the entire look.” Since there are so many variation one can choose from, “people can experiment with Western, Indo- western, full on Indian or even go for formal look apt for meetings and other corporate events,” suggests designer Ranjitha Sundar.
Cotton, cotton and only cotton along with a little linen fabric is best for this season. “A day time look would be complete when you pair a cotton or linen long kurta with palazzos and flats. This look will enable you to feel light and airy on a hot summer’s day,” says Tanya. “But for a more festive look, a long kurta with either embroidered cigarette or dhoti pants along, will give you the edge you wish to portray,” suggests designer Shriya Joshi. Choosing the right kind of fabric is important during the summer season. Breathable fabrics like cotton, rayon, linen and silk over synthetic ones is always preferred. Choose the flowy fabrics as opposed to clingy ones.
There is a very thin line between getting the look right and looking haphazardly dressed. Shriya tells us how to get this trend right, “It is important that you choose a kurta that is appropriate for your height and body type.” Accessories with a collared kurta are a definite no- no. “Dangler earrings, studs or chunky bracelets are perfect for trend,” suggests Ranjita. This trend is perfect for daytime brunch, mehindi ceremony, cocktail parties or even a formal meeting.
