GRENADES FAILED TO GO OFF

At 8 am on Tuesday, a CRPF team had a face- off with an armed group of around 100 Maoists in Sukma in which at least 3 grenades fired from Under Barrel Grenade Launcher ( UBGL) failed to go off. Four hours later, at 12.30 pm, Maoists triggered an IED, blowing up a mine protected vehicle in the same area. The development is worrying and raises questions about the quality of arms and ammunition being supplied to security forces engaged in counterinsurgency in Chhattisgarh’s conflict zone.
