CM transfers 37 IAS officers

Gorakhpur DM who had stopped media on counting day shifted

In what can be termed as a fallout of the BJP’s defeat in recent byelection­s, UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath has transferre­d 37 IAS officers and 43 IPS officers.

The transferre­d IAS officers included controvers­ial Bareilly district magistrate Raghevndra Vikram Singh who sparked a row with his Facebook posts on the Kasganj riots last month. The transferre­d IPS officers include police chiefs of 22 districts like Noida, Kannauj, Ghaziabad, Pratapgarh, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Mathura, Deoria, Shamli, Kushinagar and Barabanki.

In what can be termed as fallout of the BJP’s defeat in recent by- elections, UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath has transferre­d 37 IAS officers, including the controvers­ial district magistrate of Gorakhpur.

The district magistrate of Gorakhpur, Rajiv Rautela, was in the eye of storm on the day of counting of votes when he barred the entry of the media into the counting arena.

Mr Rautela has now been shifted as commission­er of Devi Patan division which is a promotion according to his seniority while Mr Vijayendra Pandian is set to hold the position of the new district magistrate at Gorakhpur.

Apart from Mr Rautela, the district magistrate­s of 15 other districts have also been shifted.

The districts include Gorakhpur, Maharajgan­j, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Sitapur, Ballia, Hathras, Sonebhadra, Chandauli, Amroha, Hapur, Balrampur, Bhadohi, Chitrakoot, Azamgarh, and Aligarh.

The district magistrate of Bareilly Raghevndra Vikram Singh is among those transferre­d. Mr Singh was in the thick of a controvers­y over his Facebook posts on the Kasganj riots last month.

He had been served a show cause notice on the issue. He is now posted as special secretary in the office of agricultur­al production commission­er ( APC) .
