Another IndiGo aircraft grounded

New Delhi: Market leader IndiGo suffered three more aircraft technical snags on Monday. But it said two of the three aircraft were back in operation after the snags were rectified while one aircraft has been grounded.

Market leader IndiGo suffered three more aircraft technical snags on Monday, adding to its woes. But it said two of the three aircraft were back in operation after the snags were rectified. On Sunday, the airline had suffered two aircraft technical snags.

IndiGo has already cancelled hundreds of its flights till the end of the month after aviation regulator DGCA grounded a total of 11 of its A320neo aircraft — fitted with at least one P& W 1100 engines with a serial number of 450 and beyond—- over safety issues.

In a statement on Monday, IndiGo said, “An A320 ( non neo) aircraft VT INZ operating Cochin- Mumbai and another A320 ( non neo) aircraft VT IFU operating Mumbai- Goa, had technical snags detected during departure. Both these aircraft were immediately withdrawn for rectification. The issues were rectified and the aircraft are back in operation. An A320 neo aircraft that operated Mumbai- Jammu, during maintenance checks was detected with leakage from one engine. This is a technical snag and it is being rectified. This is not related to the PW engine on- going concerns.”

The airline added, “Out of 2000 plus flights in the past 48 hours we detected 5 technical snags and out of these only one aircraft has been grounded. Rest four aircraft are back in operation.”
